What happened to Jesus after the resurrection? (December 23, 2011)

December 23rd, 2011

Recently, a friend asked me what, according to the Course, happened to Jesus after his resurrection. I wrote the following summary: Read the rest of this entry »

A political passage in “A Course in Miracles”? (November 28, 2011)

November 28th, 2011

I have long wished that the author of the Course would have addressed the subject of politics in what he dictated to Helen Schucman. I have finally found a place where he did. It is found in all the earlier versions, but was edited out in the process that produced the familiar, FIP version. Here is the passage, which came directly after what is now T-7.II.2: Read the rest of this entry »

The paradox of how the Course sees us (October 24, 2011)

October 24th, 2011

One of the paradoxes in the Course that is hard for us to wrap our heads around is how the Course wants us to see ourselves. It wants us to see ourselves as divine, at one with and even equal to God, and it wants us to see ourselves as human in the most fallible sense, to the point of being insane, confused, wrong-headed, sick-minded, and deluded. It can be very difficult to encompass both of these sides at once! Read the rest of this entry »

Does the holy relationship take only one? What is the best evidence? (October 18, 2011)

October 18th, 2011

As you may know, I teach that a holy relationship takes two, not one. It means two people joining in a common goal, which invites the Holy Spirit to enter their relationship and take them on a journey to their goal and His goal. Read the rest of this entry »

October 13th, 2011

The prayer for today’s lesson (286) is one of my absolute favorites. Here it is, laid out on separate lines: Read the rest of this entry »

Does God really yearn for our return? (October 4, 2011)

October 4th, 2011

Have you ever come across some idea in the Course that you are familiar with, but that you suddenly realize you have no real, personal relationship with? That is what happened to me yesterday. Read the rest of this entry »

“As I come quietly into Your Presence now” (September 21, 2011)

September 21st, 2011

For a few years now, I’ve been occasionally using the prayer to Lesson 222 as an introduction to meditation. That is definitely its intended purpose, and it serves that purpose quite effectively. The prayer is a single, long sentence, which I will break into three parts: Read the rest of this entry »

An ancient past becoming present (September 6, 2011)

September 6th, 2011

The prayer for Lesson 248 is a favorite of mine, so I thought I would write a little commentary on it, drawing out the meaning I see in it. It is a brief prayer which is deceptively simple-looking, such that we can very easily pass it right by. Read the rest of this entry »

How Helen prayed for others (September 1, 2011)

September 1st, 2011

I did a class for our Circle Course Community based on a recent discovery of mine. There are three, probably four, places in the early part of the Course’s story where Helen prays for others in an unusual way: by speaking directly to them in her mind. Read the rest of this entry »

A near-death experience that sounds like it came straight from the Course (August 25, 2011)

August 25th, 2011

I wanted to alert you all to a remarkable video that I highly recommend. It is a 45-minute interview with Anita Moorjani from Hong Kong. She had one of the most powerful near-death experiences I have encountered. I find it notable for several reasons: Read the rest of this entry »
