Reader Comments on Twelve Remedies for the Wandering Mind
by Robert Perry. Read the article.
Thank you for this article. Have been a meditator for about ten years, sort of a centering prayer type. For the past year, the practice has been at two hours a day. I have seen some slow improvement in wandering mind, but trying your advice seems to have given me a step forward. In particular, I can practice the techniques during conscious activities also, like during running or driving. This way, when I get to meditating, I've already cleaned out my temple, so to speak, so I am quieter all the time.
Really, I had not done much about wandering mind during conscious activities although I was aware of it bouncing all over the past and through wishful fantasies. Your article awakened me to this. I see it much more clearly.
If I read books on buddhist meditation, I have no hope because I will never live near a teacher. Your article gives me guidance on how to understand the teacher I have, The Voice. Well, you become The Voice's voice for a short while to help me.
Peace,
—Laura
