Reader Comments on Are our lives predetermined, or do we have free choice?

hello,
I really liked your article about the predetermination versus free choice. I read half of the article but then I stopped because I wanted to write to you right away and give you my feedback. First of all, let me give you a little background about myself, my name is Joe Cabardo, I'm 42 years old and am a single parent of 2 kids both boys, the oldest is 12 and the other one is about to turn 3 next month, I'm currently going through a divorce right now which should be official sometime in March or May. I'm a born again Christian and was baptized almost 4 years ago, however, because of this current situation I'm in, meaning the divorce and my current financial problems (bankrupcy and all), it seems like my faith is being tested and have been like this for the last 2 years... I've been searching around the internet for articles similar to yours because I need answers or at least an idea why this is happening to me and couldn't comprehend to why my world just collapsed on me in a matter of 2 years. I truly believe that there is a spiritual warfare happening around us especially of the things the world is experiencing in this end of age... Anyway, after reading your article I started to gain some insight and a sort of confirmation about how I view our lives to be. I mean, if the Bible has a beginning which is the Book of Genesis (the past) and the end which is the Book of Revelation (the future) that means somewhere in between the 2 books our lives are being written or have been written already. Now the free choice or the free will, where does that come in to play? Well, my thought process about this topic is that... yeah, God gave us free will and in order for that to come in to play into our script of life, I truly believe that God has given us choices like doors to choose from, for instance Door 1 could lead to happiness without God's presence (not a true happiness), then you got Door 2 which is like lukewarm presence with God but more for the world and then you have Door 3 which is obedience to God through and through, then you have Door 4 and other doors and so on, and so on... What i'm trying to say is that no matter which Doors we go in to(choices) God already knows the outcome to all these doors and that is where I believe the predetestination as well as your free will (choices) come in... Now, one could ask, if that is the case why do we need to pray to the Almighty when the outcome had been written already?? Well I believe that prayers is a powerful way to communicate with God because I believe that God changes His mind and wants to help us in every possible way in order to get us back on track meaning His righteous path (doorway) to Heaven. He gives us numerous chances to be with our Saviour Jesus Christ (miracles/prayers) and once we have done that, that is our way to God and His saving Grace, (amen to that). So no matter what... whether we decide to go astray or follow in Christ's name the Almighty knows exactly what is going to happen in our lives. I don't know, does that makes sense to you? If that is the way free will incorporates with predestination then I shouldn't really worry so much about my problems as long as I strengthen my faith in God and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. That is why Jesus said even if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can move mountains... "I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me". Nothing is impossible to Him as long as we faith in Him. Anyway, i'm going to finish your article now.... thank you for your time. Take care and God bless always!
Joe Cabardo
