Heaven Will Be Mine
June 5, 2006
Chapter 13 of the Text of A Course in Miracles takes us on a grim tour through the horrors of guilt. It says that the entire world we see "is the delusional system of those made mad by guilt" (T-13.In.2:2). When we read things like this, it is easy to doubt that we will ever undo this delusional system. Will I ever escape? Will I ever overcome guilt and find peace?
In the final section of the chapter, "The Peace of Heaven" (T-13.XI), Jesus answers our doubts by assuring us that we will overcome guilt and find the peace of Heaven because it is God's will that we do so. "There is no chance that Heaven will not be yours, for God is sure, and what He wills is as sure as He is" (T-13.XI.8:9).
The following is an exercise based on lines from that section. Bring to mind any doubts you have about reaching the Course's goal, and say these reassuring words to yourself:
My mind has been darkened by doubt and guilt,
but whatever my reactions to the Holy Spirit's Voice,
whatever voice I choose to listen to,
whatever strange thoughts may occur to me,
God's Will is done.
God wills I be in Heaven,
and nothing can keep me from it, or it from me.
My wildest misperceptions, my weird imaginings, my blackest nightmares
all mean nothing.
They will not prevail against the peace God wills for me.
The Holy Spirit will restore my sanity
because insanity is not the Will of God.
His Voice will be heard.
The Holy Spirit's mission is to remove all doubt and every trace of guilt
that I have laid upon myself.
It is impossible that this mission fail.
The mission of redemption will be fulfilled as surely
as the creation will remain unchanged throughout eternity.
Nothing can prevent what God would have accomplished from accomplishment.
I will find the peace in which He has established me,
because He does not change His Mind.
There is no chance that Heaven will not be mine,
for God is sure, and what He wills is as sure as He is.
