Suggested Readings from A Course in Miracles for a Memorial Service
You cannot assign to death whom God has given eternal life

(Note: in A Course in Miracles, the masculine pronoun refers to all of God's children, both male and female)

We call it death, but it is liberty….
We thank the body…for all the service it has given us.
But we are thankful, too, the need is done to walk the world of limits….
Now we can behold [the Christ] without blinders, in the light that we have learned to look upon again….
[Now] it is time to rest a while from labor gladly done and gladly ended.
Now we go in peace to freer air and gentler climate. (Song of Prayer, pp. 17-18)

Brother, there is no death. (Text, pp. 569-570)
You cannot assign to death whom God has given eternal life. (Text, p. 209)
How can the immortal die? (Text, p. 402)

The Son of Life cannot be killed.
He is immortal as his Father.
What he is cannot be changed. (Text, p. 616)

He is the same forever.
Born again each instant, untouched by time, and far beyond the reach of any sacrifice of life or death….

God's justice rests in gentleness upon [him],
and keeps him safe from all injustice the world would lay upon him. (Text, p. 543)

There is no death because an opposite to God does not exist. (Workbook, p. 318)
There is no death, and we renounce it now in every form….
God made not death.
Whatever form it takes must therefore be illusion.
This the stand we take today.
And it is given us to look past death, and see the life beyond. (Workbook, p. 310)

Our Father, bless our eyes today.
We are Your messengers,
and we would look upon the glorious reflection of Your Love which shines in everything.
We live and move in You alone.
We are not separate from Your eternal life.
There is no death, for death is not Your Will.
And we abide where You have placed us, in the life we share with You and with all living things, to be like You and part of You forever…
Amen.
(Workbook, p. 310)
